Valentines Day
Feb 6, 2012
It's almost here! That means winter is ending soon and spring is starting :)
Did you know: Valentines day has two types of chocolate in Japan. One is called honmei-choco (hone-may) and means "chocolate of love" and the other is called giri-choco (gili - 'g' like 'girl', 'i' like 'eat') and means "obligatory" or "courtesy" chocolate (given to coworkers etc).
Did you know #2: In Japan on Valentines day girls give chocolates to guys but guys don't give any back? In Japan there is a 2nd day called White day on March 14th where the men who received gifts on Valentines day should return the favor by gifting chocolate, cookies or jewellery among other things.

About Us
Quaint little Japanese Restaurant in the heart of beautiful Summerland, British Columbia. Owned by a Japanese couple, this restaurant pays tribute to Japanese food in a more cultural sense. Asian and western people alike will feel at home at Just Delicious. The name is not a misnomer as you will soon realise once you take a seat and pick up the menu of this wonderful little restaurant.
A short interview with the owners Maisa and Katsu:
- When did you both come to Canada? Katsu came in 2001 and I came in 2006 for a year, went back to Japan and moved here again in October of 2009.
- When did Katsu start working with sushi? In 2002 he started working at Isshin in Penticton.
- Wow it's been a while! How long has Just Delicious been open? We opened in June 2010.
- Why did you decide to open a sushi restaurant?Katsu: When I visited New Zealand in 1998 I saw a Japanese couple that own a Japanese restaurant there so I decided that's what I want to do.
- And why did you decide to live in Summerland? It was a little spur of the moment. I found this place for sale in April 2010 and jumped on it. And of course we love the Okanagan area.
- Speaking of the Okanagan, what do you like best about it? The sunshine and sunsets.
- In the summer do you spend a lot of time in the sun? Yes, drinking beer in the summer by the lake with lots of sun is saikou (the best).
- How about the winter? Definitely snowboarding. We love to ride the powder.

appetizers
Start your meal off with a little something to get the juices moving.roll sushi
Japanese people have perfected the art of serving fish. Try some nigiri sushi to experience Japanese cuisine as the Japanese do. Grab a couple rolls if you prefer sushi in the more North American sense.did you know:
Sushi rolls (maki sushi) are almost non-existent in Japan? Japanese people tend to only eat nigiri sushi - to the point that they refer to nigiri as "sushi" whereas in north america we are inclined to imagine a roll when we hear the word.
sushi
Nigiri sushi is what the Japanese call "sushi". Order some nigiri to experience sushi as the Japanese do.Nigiri is priced 'per piece'
Nigiri has wasabi under the fish unless otherwise stated. If you do not want wasabi please request it at the time of order.
Nigiri also available with brown rice for +$1.50/5pcs.
Extra Ginger - $0.25
Add Tobiko - $0.50
Add Spicy Sauce or Spicy Mayo - $0.25
Side Sauces (teriyaki, spicy sauce, spicy mayo) - $0.50
sushi combos
Treat yourself to a combo, hand picked by the chef himself to provide you with the best and mix of sushi rolls and nigiri pieces.udon soba ramen
Udon & Ramen dishes are served hot and are intended to be consumed quickly as the noodles only retain their 'perfect' consintency for a short time before absorbing too much liquid. Ramen is one of the most popular dishes in Japan - a quick walk around any busy block will probably find you one, if not a dozen different ramen shops.Soba can be served both hot and cold and there are a number of restaurants around Japan that specialise in one or the other - rarely both. At Just Delicious, soba is served hot for your pleasure.
did you know:
In asian cultures, noodles are slurped rather than eaten quietly. In western culture we see this as being rude but it's quite the opposite in asian cultures. Noodles should be eaten when they are piping hot but that would normally burn your mouth - causing the slurping noise. Eating noodles quietly means they are not tasty enough to be consumed quickly and therefore a silent insult to the chef.

salad & sandwich
A mix of both western and asian salads & sandwiches.did you know:
The salad & sandwich menu is a legacy to the previous owners of this restaurant (with a few additions of course). The current owners thought it would be nice to keep previous customers happy while expanding the menu to what it is today.
dessert
The best way to end off any great meal. There is always room for your sweet tooth.drinks
Choose from a wide array of teas and drinks. There is something for everyone.Order a Japanese import beer and kick back and relax the smooth flavor of Asahi or Kirin - the two largest and most popular beer brands in Japan.
